ORGANIC FLAXSEED OIL

WHAT IS ORGANIC FLAX?

Flax is a plant native to the Mediterranean basin. Ancestral culture (we find traces of Linen in Egyptian culture), its applications were multiple. Its fibers were used to make fabrics, paper, ropes... while its seeds produced an oil rich in a thousand virtues.

Organic flax comes in the form of a single stem that can reach a height of 1 meter. 80 to 100 leaves are distributed on this stem. Flowering lasts about 15 days and the flowers can take on a color varying from blue to a more or less pinkish white. Each flower produces a fruit which itself contains 10 flax seeds. The seed can consist of 55 to 75% linolenic acid (omega 3).

In addition to providing quality oil, flax cultivation has positive effects on the diversity of ecosystems and offers a beneficial environmental break for the quality of soils, biodiversity and landscapes (Report from the Commission to the Council and Parliament European, 2008).

Flax protects soil and water resources. Indeed, growing flax does not require irrigation (only rainwater is enough) and few inputs, which allows us to respect ecosystems.

QUINTESENS ORGANIC VIRGIN FLAX OIL

For our health oil blends  , we use Golden Flax, which has a more delicate flavor than brown flax. This organic flax oil is obtained by simple cold pressing, from unheated organic flax seeds. No chemical inputs or solvents are used in the cultivation of the seeds or in the production of our organic virgin linseed oil certified AB by Ecocert. Once the oil is extracted, it is filtered then stored cool and protected from light to avoid any risk of oxidation.

From a nutritional point of view,  organic flaxseed oil  is remarkable since it is mainly composed of polyunsaturated fatty acids and in particular of Omega 3 Alpha-Linolenic which we lack in our diet. It is also the plant richest in Omega 3 in the plant kingdom.

Used pure, do not heat  organic linseed oil and store it in a cool, dry place, away from light. It must also be consumed no later than 3 months after opening, and provided that optimal storage rules have been respected. Incorporated into a mixture of oils, it can be used at low temperatures, depending on its incorporation rate and the oleic acid and vitamin E content of the oil mixture. We invite you to refer to the manufacturer's recommendations.

So, we have added organic linseed oil to all our oil blends:  Future Mothers ,  Babies ,  Children ,  Young & Active ,  50 years and over .
